A health care spending account (HCSA) is a way to set the amount employers pay for benefits each year. Eligible expenses are outlined by the Canada Revenue Agency and the provider adjudicates claims. Provides flexibility for plan members to use their funds for what they need without being limited to a typical plan design *or* to use it for things their plan does not cover entirely.
- Employer contributions are not subject to employment taxes (e.g. WCB, EI, CPP)
- Employees can direct their funds based on their needs (or the needs of their dependents)
